About MachuPass
MachuPass is an independent ticketing guide for Machu Picchu, focused on one thing: helping you buy the right ticket and plan the trip.
Why this site exists
Machu Picchu’s ticketing system changed in 2024 and keeps changing: three circuits, ten routes, timed entry slots, seasonal capacity limits, and an official booking portal that’s entirely in Spanish. Most of what’s published about it online is outdated, copied from resellers, or quietly trying to sell you something. I started MachuPass to be the page I wished existed when planning my own trip: accurate, current, and clear about what’s official and what isn’t.
How we research
- Ticket rules, prices, and dates are checked against the Ministry of Culture’s official channels and the TuBoleto booking portal, and re-verified whenever the site is updated. The “last updated” date at the top of every guide is real, it means someone re-checked the facts that day.
- When official sources conflict or are unclear, we say so instead of guessing. Travel forums and operator blogs are treated as leads, not sources.
- Corrections are welcome. If you spot something wrong, use the contact form, factual fixes go to the top of the queue.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell tickets. Entry tickets can only be bought through the official TuBoleto portal or licensed operators, anyone else offering “official tickets” at a markup is a reseller.
- We don’t publish paid placements disguised as advice. If this site ever earns from a link, it will be a clearly labeled recommendation for a specific tour or hotel, never a banner, and never at the cost of accuracy.
- We don’t do urgency theater. When we say tickets sell out, it’s because the official capacity numbers say so, not to rush you into clicking something.
Who’s behind it
I’m Yogi, a regular 9-to-5 guy based in the USA, and MachuPass is my side quest. Machu Picchu is at the very top of my bucket list, I haven’t been yet, but someday. When I started researching my own future trip, I got buried in confusing ticket circuits, changing prices, and contradictory advice. So I did what I do best: I researched the heck out of it.
This site is the guide I wished existed. Everything here is built from official sources and cross-checked as the rules change. I don’t sell tours or tickets, I just want you to have the information you need to plan a great trip.
I’m a husband and dad, and I put this together in my spare time because I genuinely enjoy helping people get it right.
